Canonchet contains a couple of eighteenth-century houses and some Greek Revival examples, although most date from the mid- to late nineteenth century. The most important of these appears a little off the principal approach to the village from the north, on Stubtown Road. The Francis Tanner House is a traditional one-and-one-half-story, five-bay house with a central stone chimney enclosed by an unusually broad gable.
