San Patricio County Courthouse

The reconstruction of the original courthouse by the San Patricio Restoration Society stands in the middle of the constitutional square of 1834 in this diminutive town. The original courthouse was lost to a fire in 1889 and this small-scale, two-story, wood-framed building with double gallery was built in accordance with the original specifications found in county records. It is now surrounded by empty lots that, at one time, held the rustic town homes of James McGloin and John McMullen.

Across the street, the McKeown House of 1868 (restored 1978) is a classic Gulf Coast cottage.
