Constructed by Danish-born builder Kohler, this is a two-story I-house with a chamfered corner facing the Empresario and Alamo streets intersection and with a two-story, three-bay front porch with turned wood posts and frugal decorative brackets, frieze screens, and railings. Although it has been added onto repeatedly, the street fronts of the house retain the tense planarity often associated with I-houses. Kohler's client was Refugio County rancher Philip Power and his New Orleanian wife Mary Louise Luque.
Across the street at 904 S. Alamo St. is the Rose O'Brien Lambert House (1905) constructed by builder George Strauch, another towered villa-type house that was subsequently colonially revived.
