Clarksburg's compact downtown consists of two parallel east-west streets, Pike and Main, connected by one-block streets going north-south. Traffic on Pike is one way east to west, while it flows in the opposite direction on Main. Listings begin on Pike near the municipal parking deck that opens and exits onto the U.S. 50 spur (Clarksburg Expressway) of Interstate 79. Clarksburg's downtown was listed in 1982 as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.
