Hutchinson Ranch

A two-story frame house built in 1874 is the old timer on this ranch. It is sheathed with vertical board-and-batten siding and adorned with bargeboard and a carved entry hood. Ranch outbuildings lolling about in a meadow along the South Arkansas River include a log granary, bunk-house, blacksmith shop, and corrals. Joseph S. Hutchinson, a Civil War veteran who became a mine superintendent at Granite, started this cattle ranch with his wife, Annabelle.
