Strawberry Park Elementary School and Steamboat Springs Junior High School

-A A +A
1981, Robert S. Ralston with William C. Muchow and Associates. Routt County 36, 1 mile north of Steamboat Springs

This 12-acre campus includes the relocated and restored Fly Gulch Schoolhouse (c. 1900); a playground by Robert Leathers of Ithaca, New York, with his trademark wooden castles; and two Post-modern schools. The new schools are both single-story, rust-colored brick buildings with 30-foot-wide atrium “streets” flooded with natural light from clerestory windows.
