This house began as a one-story, two-room, dogtrot built of local limestone by contractor William Trawick for A. J. Wright, who moved to Granbury in 1871, where he operated a general store and served as Hood County sheriff. In 1891, J. F. Henderson acquired the property, adding a second story, enclosing the dogtrot passage, building a new roof with jerkinhead side gables, and a three-bay, two-story front porch. Henderson briefly served as sheriff. When Charles M. Duncan acquired the property in 1928, he installed electricity and indoor plumbing; Duncan also served as Hood County sheriff.
